James McBride, often
referred to as Jim, joined Liverpool in 1892 and played
in their first ever season as the reds won the
Lancashire League and with it promotion to the Football
League Second Division. Jim, playing as a
half-back, became an important part of Liverpool's first
ever League campaign playing in 24 of 28 matches in the
1893-94 season, including the Test Match against Newton
Heath that confirmed Liverpool's promotion to the First
Division. Unfortunately Jim was unable to continue
his form and only played 5 times during the next season
as Liverpool were immediately relegated back to the
Second Division.
James McBride finished his Liverpool career with 30
League appearances and 3 League goals to his name. |
