Andrew Hannah has the
distinction of being Liverpool Football Clubs first
Captain. Born in Scotland, Hannah learned his
football with a number of amateur Scottish sides before
being signed by Liverpool from Renton FC in 1892.
Playing at right-back Hannah first led Liverpool to the
Lancashire League title in 1893, (and with it promotion
to the Football League) before leading the team to the
Second Division Title in the 1893-94 season.
During the 93-94 season Hannah played in 24 games out of
28. Hannah's only gaol for the club came in the
final game of the 93-94 season against Burslem Port
Vale. Hannah's final season with the club was less
successful, as the club was relegated back to the Second
Division. Andrew Hannah made his final appearance
for the club on 5th January 1895. |
